Parent/School Communication

Red Folders
All students have a red vinyl communication folder with a P.S. 11 logo that goes home with them every night and returns to school with them every morning. The folders will hold important notices for families and may serve as a vehicle to return notes or permission slips to teachers. It is imperative that parents check the folders each night and return them to school daily in their child’s backpack. Parents will be responsible for replacing lost, misplaced or damaged folders with a substitute red vinyl folder.

PTA

PTA general meetings, held on the last Wednesday of every month, are a great way to keep on top of important P.S. 11 news including PTA events, DOE initiatives and school-wide programs.  Regular speakers include Principal Wrighton, PTA executive board members and committee chairs.  Parents are encouraged to ask questions, voice their opinions and volunteer new ideas for fundraising and community building.

The List Serve

The P.S. 11 PTA list serve is an email-based communication group that serves members of the school community. The list serve is used for discussion of general school issues.  All posts must be respectful and should adhere to the rules of internet etiquette. Only school staff, parents and caregivers of P.S. 11 students may join and post to the list serve. To join, please send an email to: ps11pta-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Include your name, your child(ren)'s name, and your child(ren)'s teacher. Requests will not be processed without this information.

Lunchtime/Recess Volunteering

We have set up a system of parent volunteers to help facilitate lunch and recess.  Each grade has a rep who schedules the volunteers on a monthly basis. Parent volunteers are needed daily - one parent per class.  The lunch/recess period for grades K-1 is 11:10-12:10 and for grades 2-5 is 12:15-1:15.  The DOE has approved P.S. 11 for a salad bar, which is available during Friday lunch periods. Parent volunteers are needed to help manage the salad bar during these hours.  Parent involvement is necessary to keep and hopefully expand this healthy food option for our kids.   Please think about volunteering for at least one day per month. Everyone's help is needed a few times during the school year

P.S. 11 Website

The P.S. 11 website is located at www.ps11brooklyn.org and contains information about the school, the PTA and School Leadership Team. The website also holds the school calendar listing all yearly school events, tests, breaks and holidays.
